Illustrated Poetry

In response to the question of how poets feel about the illustrations of our work: I have loved all three sets of illustrations for my books (cut-paper collage, oil paintings, photography), but I think I like to BEST when the poems are set off with plenty of white space around them. Then the poem itself has a little space to swim in--to show its shape, make its impact. And the illustrations embellish, rather than distract from, the words.
