i feel like the guy in godfather: the more i try to get out/the more they pull me in:

but i must paraphrase/play:......... poetry is for the eyes....and the more anyone reads and sees images prompted and conjured by words shaped and formed into a poem on a page............so: it is always a matter of the words on the page and it is always a matter of illustration....................i have spent more than 30 years working to make each poem l i v e on the page...having my work "say" as well as "sing" to readers of all ages................in some libraries there is an anthology of mine from the 70's i think: titled" it is the poem singing into your eyes"....extraordinary work done by young poets from around the country................i recall saying a few things on this defining vision of illustrated poetry in a preface there....went so far as to become involved with the art designer and the editor whose photos were used to "illustrate" the poems....to shape a complete book as visual experience...................und zo veiter.......................................there are too many bushes to plant this spring and it is also time to put some new plum tomatoes into containers for fall sauce.......................all spring blessings on saucey grandmas and didactic systems of exclusion.............arnold
