we are planning for the twentieth(!!!) annual virginia hamilton conference on multicultural literature for youth....kent state, april 1st, 2004....................... there is a focus on the "2nd generation" : chris myers, nina cruz, brian pinkney, jaime we hope to expand this vision from "blood" to
"youngblood"...............exciting younger writers and illustrators from the various parallel cultures.......................
1. please help with names of "children" creating work in our field............... 2. please send along your "wish list" of emerging authors and artists........
(some years ago, i "presented" some of the "younger" people whose work was significant: sheila hamanaka, brian pinkney, floyd cooper, for example....now i know there is a "next generation" of people like greg christie and tanuja desai...........and even more and more................help me compile a list of participants for next years conference...for the annual virginia hamilton celebration in new york city for next february......for my own personal
