In examining the art in award winning children's books we find Children's Book Illustration and Design" (PCB International, Vol. 1 1992, Vol. 2 - 1996) by Julie Cummins to be an extremely valuable resource.

Also a terrific web site called Picturing Books http://picturingbooks.imaginarylands.org/ and click on Artistic Media button on the top of the page. This site examines picture book are by artistic media such as Acrylics, Chalk, Charcoal, Collage ,Cut Paper, Etching ,Fabric
Gouache, Mixed Media, Monotype Oils, Pastels , Pencil ,Photographs Plasticine Pre-Separated, Scratch board, Tempera ,Watercolors Woodcuts and provides two or three examples of illustrators' work in that style.
