Please excuse the cross-posting, but this seems an appropriate time to announce the following:
http://www.rosenbach.org/main.html
After a five-year renovation and expansion project, the Rosenbach Musuem
& Library reopens tomorrow (April 2) with a major exhibition featuring the drawings and personal collections of Maurice Sendak. In a nod to the man whose relationship with the Rosenbach dates back to the 1950s, and who began placing his original drawings and manuscripts there, the new building will be named for Sendak. Rosenbach has preserved over 7,000 of his drawings and other works representing more than fifty of his books.
"Let the Wild Rumpus Start!" will be the first show ever to feature all of Maurice Sendak's original drawings for "Where the Wild Things Are", in honor of the publication's 40th anniversary and the creator's 75th birthday.
Thursday, April 3, 5:30-7:30pm Public Open House for Let the Wild Rumpus Start!
Sunday, April 6, 2:00-4:00pm Family Opening for Let the Wild Rumpus Start!
In a collaborative exhibition, the Brandywine River Museum will feature works from two other highly?claimed Sendak books, In the Night Kitchen and Outside Over There."
See you there!
Oh, and while you are here, be sure to visit the wonderful interactive
(and permanent) Wild Things exhibit for kids to clamber into and over at our Please Touch Me Museum.
