Regarding the question below on the art media used in Caldecott and Caldecott Honor books -- Every year, the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, publishes a new edition of The Newbery and Caldecott Awards: A Guide to the Medal and Honor Books. There is a chapter in each edition on "The Media Used in Caldecott Picture Books: Notes Toward a Definitive List." From 1938 up to present day, all media used in both the winners and honor books is described. Extensive research was used to gain this information, and there are very few question marks (?'s) when exact information could not be obtained for earlier titles.
It is a wonderful resource to answer questions on artwork in these winning titles.
Question: I was wondering if anyone is familiar with any books or other sources that discuss the artwork that was done with the Caldecott medal/honor winners. What I am looking for is a description, explanation about the techniques that the illustrator used to create the wonderful illustrations for the books.
