Hi
It goes back a while but does anyone remember the quietly pathetic story of Judy Scuppernong, told by Brenda Seabrooke. The book won Boston-Globe honors in 199?
And among the best teller of tales in poetry is Angela Johnson. I recall her book, The Other Side which with humor, sadness and anger, tells the story of the demise of a small town in Alabama - being torn down, families displaced for a super store and parking lot!! A Corett Scott King Honor book
And how about Nikki Grimes. Her prose is poetic - and the introduction to chapters in Jazmin's Notebook give added dimension to that story
I am sure there are others, but these are ones that came to me without really having to think about it!!
