Along this line, I like King of the Playground by Naylor a lot. It's a good story and the father-son relationship is appealing. I'm fond of the Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig, by Trivizas. There are the folk tales such as Stone Soup, where cleverness and/or cooperation resolve problems. In my view we adults are not setting a good example here, but maybe in another few generations. . .
