overlap of age criteria in awards

Hello, The overlap of ages in the Newbery, Sibert and Printz awards adds confusion to an already sketchy system of purchasing and cataloging in my library. I'm in a public library where myself and two other staff members review books to be placed on order.
If a particular book which wins a Newbery is placed in the children's room and has questionable content, I do not always find out until a parent objects. Kids don't object. They'll read what comes to them and especially if their parents may have objections to it. To compound things for me as a Youth Services Librarian, my library has a separate cataloguer who does not take kindly to my making suggestions as to where a book is placed; in YA area or the children's room.

I'm sure it's exciting for an author to win in two catagories, but the age overlap is problematic.
