I'd say these are pretty smart families. There is no reason not to shelter children who are 3 to 5 years old. We can't begin to put our brains around this thing, so how could they? Impossible. We as adults have a tough job to do in the face of terror, disaster and grief. But we can do it. We can put on a comforting front for our children. I am hearing of school children in England 'protesting' ... this is ridiculous. Of course they are picking up the emotions of teachers and parents. And shame on them. I think we are all caring, and all of your thoughts as to books to share are touching, but please let's allow children to exist as normally as possible. I for one would never have dreamed of talking to my own children, or the children I taught about terrorism or war when they were practically babies. Let's keep laughter and joy alive as much as possible. That's the job we can do to really make a difference. Best to all.
