Although it doesn't deal with the specifics of war, "Bad Stuff in the News: a guide to handling the headlines" by Rabbi Marc Gellman and Monsignor Thomas Hartman (aka The God Squad) is a wonderful book. Topics covered include terrorism, abuse, hate and drug addiction. Written for kids, this book helps children deal with, rather than hide from, the "bad stuff" we keep hearing about.
