I'm with you Lee. All this talk about War books is making me anxious and I'm an adult. Children have enough to worry about today.
As Bina Williams suggested "let's put up displays of our favorite humorous books, adventure stories, mysteries, fantasy or any other great books that divert well. "
Someone else recommended the title "Let There Be Light: Poems and Prayers for Repairing the World," compilation and illustrations by Jane Breskin Zalben.
We had a young child last year who kept requesting war books and his mother came into the school library and pleaded with us to coax him into borrowing from other subject areas. (another topic for discussion -- I know)
