Hole in my life

There is nothing wrong with children reading about drug culture, but Hole in My Life is not a good introduction to it. I know Jack did not have children in mind as an audience when he wrote his story. He told me so. This is not a book for kids reading Rotten Ralph, Jack Henry, or Joey Pigza
a dark, scary, frequently ugly, true story of a young man who almost completely destroys his life.

Although most young adult books are oriented toward a middle school audience, more and more there are books being published with older, high school age teens in mind as the audience. Hole in My Life is one of those.

I'm happy to see Jack honored for his work--he's certainly earned it--but I think the Sibert committee made a bad call with this pick.
