I think that Hole in My lIfe is a great young adult (Definitely) autobiography. It is appropriate today to have discussions of "drug culture" and this book certainly does it well, without romantizing the lifestyle one bit. Gantos is a great example of how one can come back from a major downfall to go on and accomplish great things. This is a lesson that young adults need to learn, and how wonderful for them to learn it from someone who lived through it and not some tacky Afterschool Special.
I was amazed that this is the life of the writer of Joey Pigza!
