On the evening of January 7, a group of children's librarians from Brooklyn Public Library and the New York City Department of Education met to conduct a Mock Caldecott election.

THE BROOKLYN PUBLIC LIBRARY WINNERS ARE: When Marian Sang, by Pam Munoz Ryan, illustrated by Brian Selznick Duck on a Bike by David Shannon Village that Vanished by Ann Grifalconi, illustrated by Kadir Nelson I Stink! by Kate McMullan, illustrated by Jim Mc Mullan Rap A Tap Tap: Here's to Bojangles - Think of That! by Leo and Diane Dillon

The ballot count between our first and second choices was extremely tight. Had we been a "real" Caledcott committee we would certainly have had to go to a second round. There was less than an eight vote difference between the top two choices.
