"Feed" and "The House of the Scorpion"

A couple of people have written about two of the National Book Award nominees,
"Feed" and "The House of the Scorpion," but I'm wondering if anyone who has read both books would care to compare and contrast them? Both present frighteningly possible portraits of the near future, and yet they are so different from one another.

I very much enjoyed the humor and future teen-speak of "Feed" along with the serious issues it raised about the culture of consumerism. Lisa von Drasek mentioned its great opening line ? and there are many funny/jarring lines like that throughout.

I'm curious to know what others think of either book ? or both books together.
