Many apologies for incorrectly referring to last year's Caldecott in my posting about publishers' release dates. There is nothing "little" about David Wiesner's book. It is wonderful and innovative! (In addition, it's the only time I've correctly predicted the winner! I can't take too much credit though because my prediction was influenced by the buzz I was reading on listservs. It might be too early, but I'm not getting the same buzz toward one particular book this year. Am I missing it?)
I've read the responses to my posting with interest. I didn't realize that "bigger" books were saved until fall. Or that fall was a stronger selling season. Is that because of holiday shopping? Or is it related to school and library sales?
Looking forward to continuing discussion,
