Books that I am loving and give as gifts

Bubba and Beau, Best Friends by Kathi Appelt, illustrated by Arthur Howard , Harcourt This charming first chapter book (five count'em, five chapters) addresses one of the most fundamental issues of early childhood- the blankie. A joy to read aloud, easy rhythm, witty alliteration and a new twist on the familiar. A joy.

I stink- written by Kate and illustrated by Jim McMullan- HarperCollins Yes, it is loud, yes,the colors are bold and garish, yes, the humor is crude. What did you expect? He's a garbage truck!

Little Dog and Duncan, Kristine O'Connell George illustrated by June Otani Duncan the Irish wolfhound has come to stay the night. In 27 succinct poems George uses gentle humor to describe and demystify the sleep over.
