Hi.

I'd like to share with the CCBC-NET community a brief update on http://www.TeachingBooks.net and invite you to freely watch our latest, original virtual author programs featuring movies of Francisco Jimenez, Michael Emberley and Denise Fleming.

TeachingBooks.net maximizes Internet and multimedia technologies to give everyone convenient and instant access to the best children's book authors and authoritative teaching resources. Within our extensively cataloged website, we have reliable links to literally hundreds of author interviews and thousands of teacher guides for PK titles.

One of the neatest thing we do is travel to the homes of some of the best children's book creators and film them. We edit these into professionally-produced original Authors Up-close programs. This enables everyone with a click of the mouse the opportunity to see and hear these remarkable book creators share insights about their work. Each program contains a 5-minute movie of the author in the studio, an in?pth interview, a comprehensive bibliography and a collection of pertinent links around the web. They're really special, insightful author programs.

This month we released programs with Francisco Jimenez and Michael Emberley. In a few days, we're releasing our program with Denise Fleming. A few highlights from these include:

Francisco Jimenez program includes three movies -- one informative overview, and two others of him reading from THE CIRCUIT in English and in Spanish. The latter is the first movie entirely in Spanish of a children's book author I know of!

Michael Emberley movie reveals a demonstration of his technique for illustrating his "Bird" character from IT'S SO AMAZING (written by Robie Harris) and a discussion of him using different illustration styles for each book.

Denise Fleming program offers a demonstration of her amazing pulp painting technique and many interesting insights into her numerous concept books for young children. An extra original movie details her pulp painting as she creates her Mouse character from start to finish.

To access http://www.TeachingBooks.net and these original author programs, there currently is no charge, but you must register. Friends of the CCBC who have renewed for 2003 receive annual access to this website as part of their membership.

I hope you find these programs and this website really useful.
