This year, Laurie Halse Anderson's Catalyst was a memorable book for me. Though I didn't particularly enjoy reading it, the characters have remained with me for months--haunting me. Kate, Andersen's protagonist, made me feel as manic, crazed and sleepdeprived as she was. Likewise, the character of Mikey, Teri Litch's little boy, seemed very real to me, and his death (though I was annoyed by it and found it sensational) affected me deeply.I don't believe it's been mentioned during this discussion. Wa s the book largely disliked? Mary Holt-WilsonWellesley Middle SchoolWellesley, MA
