This month: Images of Families in Books for Children and Young Adults. Nuclear. Extended. Single-parent. Two-parent. Biracial. Multiracial. Lesbian & Gay. All of these terms and more lend themselves to a collective understanding the word "family" today. How does literature for children and young adults reflect this diversity? What books provide especially effective, and affecting, portrayals of family life?

December 2002: Favorites of the Year. Each December we invite members of the CCBC-Net community to share their favorite titles published for children and young adults in 2002. From picture books to poetry, novels to non-fiction, it's time to talk about the books you've most appreciated this year.

January 2003: Award Winners January 1& ? National Book Award winner and nominees "Feed" by M.T. Anderson; "The House of the Scorpion" by Nancy Farmer; "19 Varieties of Gazelle" by Naomi Shihab Nye; "This Land Was Made for You and Me" buy Elizabeth Partridge; and "Hush" by Jacqueline Woodson.
