Marion Dane Bauer's new novel RUNT shows us a wolf family and all its complex relationships. Though the animals speak English, Bauer did her research and all the wolf's actions are consistent with wolf behavior in the wild. Besides the underlying enviro nmental and family themes, it's a wonderful story with an irresistible protagonist:
