I am pleased to let everyone know about the 50th anniversary Nonfiction Award Luncheon sponsored by the Washington Post and the Children's Book Guild of Washington, D.C. (November 16, Noon, Capital Hilton Hotel, Washington, D.C.)

This year's Nonfiction Award winner is George Ancona, photographer, author and filmmaker, whose books sensitively explore different cultures (Cuban Kids, The Pinata Maker, Powwow, Carnaval).

In addition to George Ancona, featured speakers at the Luncheon are Newbery author Sharon Creech and illustrator E.B. Lewis, winner of a Coretta Scott King award and two King honors.
