David Almond is one my favourite new authors as well. I think I talked about Skellig until everyone around me was sick of hearing from me. Kit's Wilderness was also good. I liked the moody setting and the local dialect. I was disappointed in Heaven Eyes but really enjoyed his short story collection Counting Stars. I liked that the stories were all connected in some way but stood alone as well.
One of the reasons I like Almond so much is his writing style. He uses language so beautifully that it's like looking at a piece of art in a gallery.
