I haven't read them for a while, but I'll never forget the impact Hamilton's Jahdu stories had on me when I first read them. Then I read them aloud because they begged to be read aloud. Her command of language was absolutely brilliant. She wrote in a rhythmic folkloric style that gave me chills. There was a mystical Dustland feeling to it that I can't explain (but much more accessible and even to young children). I was saddened when the books went out of print, but, I believe they were brought back not too long ago fortunately. If you haven't read them, you must!
