The message below comes from Deborah Taylor:

What a wonderful topic. Virginia Hamilton made such an amazing contribution toboth children's and young adult literature. One of my favorites of her novels is A White Romance. This is such a sophisticated look at race relations and friendship - Certainly more than we ever had prior or since with the exception of Jacqueline Woodson. We have used Cousins in our family book discussion program and found it generates rich conversation. However, I am such a fan of her biography of Paul Robeson. Her introduction, where she tells about her father and his love for Robeson and his own dashed dreams is worth the price of the book.
