Thanks for sharing the wonderful anecdote, Judy. It's a great reminder of what an original writer Virginia was. It was nice to be reminded of her first book, Zeely, too, and the characters she created. The image of majestic six-and-a-half-foot-tall Zeely, walking down a country road with her prize razorbacks, is one that has stuck with me through the years.
I'm wondering what others feel are some of Virginia Hamilton's most memorable characters.
