I just finished four months of toddler storytimes (Tales For Twos), and I did a four-month session of Book Babies (for birth through 23 months) earlier this year. The most important element for me when searching for good baby and toddler books is big, simple pictures with uncluttered backgrounds.

 I love using many of the "classics" that others have mentioned. However, to avoid burnout, I try to keep an eye out for newer titles to add to my repertoire. Among the favorites I have added this year:

BRAVE BEAR by Kathy Mallat KISS GOOD NIGHT by Amy Hest THE BUS FOR US by Suzanne Bloom DOG'S COLORFUL DAY by Emma Dodd (this is my favorite new addition to toddlers. It incorporates colors and counting as Dog collects many spots during the day, then has them washed away in the bath.) LULU books by Caroline Uff DAISY books by Jane Simmons
