I'm enjoying all the responses to this month's discussion! Here are some titles that have been successful in my laptime programs (I think a few have been mentioned previously). I find those that the audience can particpate with are the most successful for the under 2s. And pop-ups/lift the flaps are winners.
Peek-a-Moo by Marie Cimarusti - a great peek-a-boo story incorporating all the barnyard animals and the sounds they make. Pots and Pans by Patricia Hubbell - a rollicking, rhythmic story that really gets the audience involved (and it has a father taking care of the child) Show Me by Tom Tracy - another in the Harper Growing Tree series. A sample of the rhymes: "Where is your chin? There! Under your grin. Let me wiggle that chin." Adults love to participate with this one. Peek-a-Boo by Jan Ormerod Snappy Little Colors & Snappy Little Farmyard - pop-up books with bright, bold colors. There are others in the Snappy series that work better with 2s and up too. John Prater's Oh Where, Oh Where?; Number One, Tickle Your Tum & Walking Around the Garden all featuring a baby bear and an adult bear. A series by Dawn Apperley that includes Hello Little Lamb & Hello Little Ducklings. Also ones about chicks and pigs. Baby Faces & What's on My Head? and others by Margaret Miller. All feature photos of babies that fascinate the babies in the laptime audience. Where is Baby's Belly Button? by Karen Katz. And I love Flappy, Waggy, Wiggly that was mentioned before.
