September 24, 6 - 8pm Time to celebrate! Join us for a book party to celebrate the publication of Ways of Telling: Fourteen Interviews With the Masters of the Art of the Picture Book, the latest book by children's literature scholar and historian Leonard Marcus. Leonard will sign copies of his books including the highly praised biography of Margaret Wise Brown
September 25, 4:30pm New York Is Book Country cookbook day! Bookstores across the city will host events related to food and cooking. Join us for a reading and food carving demonstration with Saxton Freymann, co-creator of the popular How Are You Peeling? and Play With Your Food. He will bring along some of his produce creations and sign copies of his new book, Dog Food. Ages 5 - 10.
September 29, 11am -5pm Come visit our booth at the 24th annual New York Is Book Country street fair on Fifth Ave between 48th and 57th Street. Authors scheduled to appear include Marissa Moss (Amelia's Notebook), Gail Carson Levine (Ella Enchanted), Kathy Jakobsen (My New York), Shana Corey (Milly and the Macy's Parade), Brett Helquist (Series of Unfortunate Events, illustrator), Jane Zalben (Let There Be Light), and Robert Sabuda (Brooklyn Pops Up). October 17, 2 - 4pm Join us for an afternoon of fun with Philip Ardagh, author of the highly acclaimed Eddie Dickens trilogy. Fans of Lemony Snicket will love this series. The first book, A House Called Awful End, is already on the best-seller list in England. Ages 7.
October 19, 2 - 4pm Meet James Howe, author of the award-wining bestseller Bunnicula, as well as many other books for young readers. James will read from his latest series, Tales From The House of Bunnicula, and autograph books. Ages 5 and up.
October 27, 2 - 4pm Fudge is back! Meet Judy Blume as she signs copies of her books including Double Fudge, the long awaited sequel to the best-selling Fudge books. Space is limited, call for information.
November 16, Time TBA Tamora Pierce returns to Bank Street Bookstore! The popular fantasy writer will read from Lady Knight, the latest installment in the best-selling Protector of the Small series. A book signing and discussion will follow the reading. Ages 8 and up.
November 21, Time TBA Join us for a performance with Jose Orozco, well-known singer/songwriter. He will sing songs from his much loved collections De Colores and Other Latin American Folk Songs for Children and Diez Dietos. His latest book, Fiestas: A Year of Latin Songs of Celebration, contains songs that focus on holidays that specifically honor Latin American culture. Ages 3- 8.
