One of my favorite authors for story time is Nancy Tafuri. Several of her books have very large, beautiful, illustrations with only brief text. In a group setting everyone can see the pictures. Also, the economy and size of the objects, animals, etc. make it easy to point them out to the child(ren). On another related subject, a fellow librarian came into the library yesterday and pointed out the Rebecca Emberley board books. They have simple vocabulary in English and Spanish on various subjects, including numbers, shapes, and colors and more.
