Children?s Authors and Illustrators Visit Fresno
California State University?s Summer Arts Program will be held on the Fresno campus this July. It offers academic courses taught by master teachers and guest artists. These guest artists can be seen at evening public performances. All ages are welcome at public performances, including children. For a nominal fee, $3 to $5, you can see these people with children?s book connections at varying locations in Fresno:
Author Joyce Carol Thomas, winner of a National Book Award and a Coretta Scott King Author Award, at the African American Museum, Monday, July 15, 7 p.m.
Author/illustrator Charles Van Sandwyk at the Fresno Art Museum, Tuesday, July 16, 8 p.m.
Author Pam Munoz Ryan, winner of the Pura Belpre award for Esperanza Rising, at Arte Americas, 7 p.m. This event is co-sponsored by the Arne Nixon Center Advocates.
Children?s Storytelling, led by master teacher Janine Riveire, at Petunia?s Place Bookstore, Saturday, July 20, 11 a.m. Free.
Author Bruce Coville, author of There?s an Alien in My Backpack, Wednesday, July 24, Wahlberg Recital Hall, Fresno State Campus, 7 p.m.
