ME, as one of the first authors to portray gay, lesbian, and bisexual characters in young adult literature (beginning with "Night Kites" in 1986 - or even earlier if you consider "Is That You, Miss Blue" from 1975), would you talk a bit about your perspectives on gay/lesbian literature for teens? Have you experienced any difficulties or backlash as a result of writing about gay characters?

Thanks!

KT
