I have had the pleasure of sharing David Shannon's DUCK ON A BIKE (2002) with PreK through first grade. The children were actually guffawing at the full page spread of the animals, eyes wide, about to do the unexpected. I had entire classrooms huddled around my lap looking at the picture of all the animals on bikes. I think the humor works because Shannon pulls the reader into Duck's adventure and when all the other characters get to have an adventure too we are right there with them - doing something unexpected, a little naughty and grand fun. And humor is that too - unexpected, a little naughty, grand fun! Peace and Blessings, Cathy Norman, Youth Services Librarian 335 Vine Street Fairport Harbor Public Library Fairport Harbor, OH 44054?91 ext 23 csn71650 at hotmail.com
*Of course my opinions are my own. Who else would want them?*
