Okay..I just have to add one more.. I know that Naomi Shihab Nye is not considered a humorous author but the chapter in Habibi when the family arrives in Israel to meet their Palestinian relatives is one of the funniest I have ever read...I laughed until I cried..and then, like Curtis's Watsons Go to Birmingham, the bittersweet takes over..and different tears are shed as the story unfolds. Thanks for this month's discussion. As I plow through the writing of my own first novel, I am inspired to keep a lighter touch..CHeers..Jody Shapiro. in.Melbourne with only 7 months to go till I have to leave this great city.
