Katy assures me it's okay to use "announcement days" for new book notices, even though my new book has nothing to do with the topic we are just finishing, or the topic we are about to begin, or even the topic we will do after that. But it is a brand new book, and it is an announcement. So here I go, tooting my own horn:
The Kindling, by Jennifer Armstrong and Nancy Butcher, volume one of the Fire-us Trilogy, published by HarperCollins. This is my first foray into science fiction (near future). Sally Estes gave it a starred review in Booklist, saying "...Not only a poignant foray into a frightening future but also an exciting survival tale that will mesmerize readers and leave them anxious for the next installment." I co-wrote this series with a good friend, so not only is it a new genre, but a new kind of writing experience.
I will be very eager to hear from anyone who reads it or passes it on to middle school readers.
Cheers, Jennifer Armstrong www.jennifer-armstrong.com
