Glad to see people getting so steamed up about non-fiction!

One of the problems with "creative" non-fiction is the root word of
"create." In good, solid, creative non-fiction nothing is "made-up" or
"imagined," it's just creatively arranged and expressed.

Check out Susan Campbell Bartoletti's new non-fiction book, _Black Potatoes: The Story of the Great Irish Famine, 184550_. The book is sweeping the awards this year (Sibert, Orbis Pictus, and Golden Kite Non-fiction) because it's a great example of a book using creative non-fiction techniques -vivid writing, telling, truthful details, and a powerful narrative style.

My bible for doing this kind of writing is Jon Franklin's book, _Writing for Story: Craft Secrets of Dramatic Nonfiction by a Two-Time Pulitzer Prize Winner_.
