The annual Celebration of Children's Literature will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2002 at the Germantown Campus of Montgomery College in Montgomery County, Maryland. Librarians, teachers, reading specialists, writers, parents, booksellers, and artists are invited to attend.
The theme, "Art and the Heart of the Story," will be developed by featured speaker Leonard Marcus whose latest book is Side by Side: Five Picture book Teams Go to Work.
Morning and afternoon workshops will cover subjects such as creating culturally authentic illustration, appreciating comics, what illustrators think of the Caldecott Award, library spaces for YA's, identifying media and techniques in book illustration,how to write a mystery,how to use primary sources, and looking at book design.
