What a wonderful book this was! Ever since Secret letters from 0 - 10, I have been a fan of Susie Morgenstern and have eagerly awaited any new book that she might write. In Book of Coupons, Morgenstern captures what all who are children (or children at heart) really wish we could have, the permission to sometimes act in ways that others might deem outside the norm. Who wouldn't love to "sing at the top of your lungs whenever you like"? and not be bombarded with stares or shhhssss? Couldn't you imagine breaking out in song in the grocery store, on the street, etc.?
Rather than hoarding coupons, Monsieur Noel encouraged the children to live life by using their coupons. But the coupons aren't always used just for the betterment of the user, but sometimes for someone else. The children learn this selfless lesson in a way that makes you have hope for the world and the people in it.
What kind of coupons do you wish you had? Go ahead and use them. Make Monsieur Noel proud.
Thanks to Susie Morgenstern for her books that warm your heart.
