The second annual Rabbit Hill Festival of Literature will take place in Westport, CT on March 21$, 2002. Honoring the legacy of Robert Lawson, a longtime resident of Westport and the only person to win both the Newbery and Caldecott Medals in his lifetime, this festival features a symposium for adults, informal dinner with the authors, and author/illustrator visits to schools.

The focus of this year's program is Historical Fiction. The Festival opens on Thursday evening, March 21, with a talk in the library by Patricia Reilly Giff. Featured authors will appear in the middle schools in Westport on Friday. Participants may enjoy dinner with the authors at The Three Bears Restaurant Friday evening. The Saturday symposium will feature a keynote address by Katherine Paterson and shorter talks by Joseph Bruchac, Patricia MacLachlan, and Richard Peck. Attendees choose afternoon workshops with any of the featured authors, with Westport resident Leonard Everett Fisher, or a tour of the Weston Woods studio in Norwalk, CT. The day concludes with book sales and autographing. A marionette show for younger children on Sunday will conclude the Festival.
