I was delighted that ROPEMAKER, by Peter Dickinson won a Printz honor. He's been a favorite author of mine since I read EVA. ROPEMAKER is one of the most original fantasies I've read in a long time, and I read a lot of them. I find that although Harry Potter now has people giving lip-service to the genre of fantasy, it is still a step-child to many.
ROPEMAKER takes mythology, such as unicorns, and uses them in a totally new and different way. His use of ropes, of all things, is brilliant. Characters, plot, setting--all kept my interest. Overall, an excellent story.
