These sessions are being sponsored by the Four Lakes Distance Eduction Network in Cooperation with the Northern Lights, Cadence, and WIN Networks in Wisconsin. They will be held at sites in South Central and west/northwest Wisconsin.
"Award-Winning Books 2002 for Elementary and Secondary Students," a distance education event: Monday, February 4, 2002, 3:45 - 5:00 pm.
Join CCBC librarians Kathleen T. Horning and Megan Schliesman via live interactive video to hear about all the latest award-winning books in the field of children's and young adult literature, including the Newbery and Caldecott Medal winners which will be announced in New Orleans on Monday, January 21. In addition to the Newbery and Caldecott winners and honor books, you can find out about the Coretta Scott King Award (for African-American literature); the Batchelder Award (for translated book); the Printz Award (for distinguished teen literature); the Sibert Award (for nonfiction); the Pura Belpr? Award (Latino literature); and the Charlotte Zolotow Award (for outstanding writing in a picture book for children from birth through age 7). In addition to learning the titles of the winning books, Katy and Megan will explain each award, and participants will see the books via video. This opportunity is offered to participants at eight sites throughout Wisconsin through the Four Lakes Distance Education Network; it will originate from the Pyle Center on the UW-Madison campus.
