[CCBC-Net] The awards

As someone who will be on the 2003 Newbery, I write with not a little trepidation. I was not surprised by the ALA award honors and winners because I have only guessed right once in all these years. ( Our classes really loved a book about the guy who photographed snowflakes, go figure) therefore I had stopped trying to guess.

I do love going to the Notable discussions which are open. There is always a comment or an insight about a book that is new and surprising.
 Hearing A Single Shard announced was a delight and yes that was me hooting and hollering in the 6th row at the press conference. There were many fine books this year and I will be proud to be an ALSC member booktalking this year's winners. Lisa
