Ack! more corrections

Gee, I just can't do anything right tonight. :-(

A SINGLE SHARD got four starred reviews (PW, Kirkus, SLJ, Booklist) and two best book citations (Booklist, SLJ). I apologize for the misinformation.

I also hope I did not imply that large amounts of critical attention is necessary for awards. As you know, COUNTDOWN TO INDEPENDENCE was a favorite of mine, yet to my knowledge only got two starred reviews and one best book citation--and I still thought it completely worthy.

I just thought that the most distinguished books this year came from outside the traditional age ranges for the Newbery (i.e. 9 and 10) with AMBER WAS BRAVE and a plethora of very impressive young adult titles.

P.S. I share Ginny's enthusiasm about the Belpre. How gratifying to see ESPERANZA RISING continue to rack up awards (BBYA Top Ten, L.A. Times Book Prize finalist, Americas Honor, Jane Addams, and now the Belpre). What's next? And I thought BREAKING THROUGH was even better than THE CIRCUIT (and one of the aformentioned impressive young adult titles).
