Hello:
I don't think any CCBC participants who question the award process doubt the
"care, reading, thought, evaluation, discussions and weighing of merit" that makes up the the award process. Likewise, I disagree that any CCBC participants doubt the "deep and very intense" commitment of the award committees.
Those who share their disappointments in the award process and later rejoice the choices are participating in the process as well. I think few would, at heart, disagree that the Newbery and Caldecott processes, created over 50 years ago, are in need of revamping.
Does anyone know if the original guidelines adopted at the birth of the awards has ever been altered or amended?
