Thank you, Ginny, for suggesting I Had a Rooster as a favorite picture book. I read your review and rushed out to buy it as a birthday gift for a two-year old boy who loves animals, especially animal sounds, and who also has a baby brother. He loved the book, and when we played the CD he was singing and dancing and having a wonderful time. Other gift books I bought this season were Little Tree, Chris Raschka's elaboration on the e. e. cummings poem, for two families who each have two little girls, and Love That Dog for my daughter-in-law, who teaches fifth grade. I usually find myself several months behind in reading reviews and new books, but I'm anxious to read many that have been suggested so far.
