I, too, was disturbed by the lack of documentation in WE WERE THERE, TOO, especially when it was nominated for the NBA. Sometimes I think I am becoming mildly obsessed by this source material issue. Books I like that haven't been mentioned too many times: I am particularly fond of Bonnie Christensen's Woody Guthrie, which I think is stunning. Also: The Stray Dog, (Simont), Handel, Who Knew What He Liked (Anderson), Rocks in His Head (Hurst), Larky Mavis (Cole), A Poke in the I (Janesczko), Straw Into Gold (a novel based on Rumpelstiltskin by Gary Schmidt), and Milo's Hat Trick (Agee). Amber was Brave and Essie was Smart, too. Looking forward to reading Zazoo! I love seeing others' favorites-- Again, I get this in digest form, so I hope I'm not repeating too many posts.
