Ginny Golodetz has asked me to tell you that on Friday evening before the Midwinter Conference of the American Library Association begins there will be a fine meeting open to anyone interested. Please tell others.
KATHERINE PATERSON will speak about her world-wide experiences as winner of the 1998 IBBY Hans Christian Andersen Medal on Friday, January 18, at 8:00 p.m. in La Gallerie III of the New Orleans Marriott. The title of her speech is "Bridges to Other Lands." A brief meeting will precede her talk. A dessert reception, bookselling, and autographing will follow it.
This program meeting will be conducted by the United States Board on Books for Youth (USBBY), which is a section of the International Board on Books for Youth (ISBBY). ALA/ALSC is one of the patron members of USBBY.
Everyone is welcome. There is no charge, and reservations are NOT necessary. You do NOT need to be a USSBY or an ALA member to attend.
This event is made possible by Ms. Paterson's publishers: Clarion, HarperCollins and Penguin-Putnam.
Ginny Golodetz is an ALA representative to the USBBY Board. You may direct any questions about this meeting to her: arnold.golodetz at vtmednet.org
