Having not read "The Corrections" but well aware of Franzen's comments about Oprah and the general American reading public, I found myself scratching his book off my already too long list of "must read" books. I LOATHE vain, self ?ntered people. Talented he may well be, but counting myself among the "the general American reading public" I refuse to give him acknowledgment or another dollar in his pocket.

P.S. Check out his photo! Talented and quite handsome....shame he has no heart and humility-?spite what critics say of his writing....doesn't seem fair somehow....

She was a woman sawed in half It was done by a bad magician There was a point at which she just had to laugh You could appreciate her position

Her legs in one way, and her head another She just kept thinking about...walking away They tried to put her back together underneath the cover But her heart kept getting in, getting in the way
