I have a big list of favorite books for each of the possible awards, especially picture books, but in this first posting, I'll throw in my favorite among favorites for some of the awards:
Caldecott: Fannie in the Kitchen by Deborah Hopkiinson, illus. by Nancy Carpenter. This is such a nicely written story, and the illustrations beautifully complement and extend the story, with lots of very humorous touches. It would be nice to see such a warm, inventive, and humorous story be considered. And the included pancake recipe works well!
Newbery: Amber Was Brave, Essie Was Smart, written and illus. by Vera Williams. Beautifully written, designed, and illustrated.
Printz: True Believer by Virginia Euwer Wolff. Sequel to Make Lemonade and part of the soon-to? Make Lemonade trilogy. This year's winner of the National Book Award.
Coretta Scott King (illus): The Other Side - Jacqueline Woodson/E.B. Lewis
(Fiction): The Other Side of Truth - Beverley Naidoo
(though I'm not sure this qualifies under CSK rules)
Sibert: We Were There, Too! - Phillip Hoose
